I was commissioned to make four art pieces for the Starbucks Art Program. The task was to create original artwork to hang in stores around the world, which feature different regions where the company sources their beans. These four drawings highlight Yunnan Province of China, (then scrolling right) Kenya, Colombia, and finally Sumatra.

ABOVE: Yunnan China region (scroll for original black & white painting)

BELOW: The rest of the regions! Kenya, Colombia and at the very bottom, Sumatra. And finally Pike Place Market, and the original Starbucks at 1912 Pike St. Seattle

Shown above is the original 3x6 foot India ink drawing, I created for the Starbucks Art Program back in 2014. I work on pieces like this using India ink watered down to different saturations of gray to build depth and richness. Then I color the piece digitally, for flexibility of color editing. It also helps the piece reproduce more successfully.

Prints of this piece exist around the world in select stores, and the original black and white piece hangs in Starbucks HQ in Seattle. After I created this piece, I was commissioned four more like it, featuring the different regions where Starbucks sources their coffee.
